[0:01] hey guys this is team solo from HS and [0:04] today I'm answering the question how to [0:06] get the kinds of links that help you [0:08] rank well in Google this is episode [0:11] number four of the oversimplified [0:25] SEO if you've been watching the previous [0:28] episodes of the show you must know that [0:31] the more links you get the better you [0:33] ranking Google but it's not always about [0:35] the quantity of links the quality [0:38] actually matters too and I'm going to [0:40] show you a great example to illustrate [0:42] this we are looking at the post on my [0:45] personal blog where I tried to Target [0:48] the keyword Twitter [0:50] automation so let's go to Google and see [0:53] how well I [0:54] rank as you can see my post ranks at [0:58] spot number four [1:00] what I want to know is why this page [1:02] from Simply cast.com website is ranking [1:06] right above me and what would it take to [1:08] outrank it so as usual I'm going to put [1:12] both pages into hre site Explorer [1:17] tool and see why one of them ranks [1:20] better than the [1:22] other the post on my personal Blog has [1:25] 14 backlinks from 11 referring domains [1:29] and the page simply cast website has 12 [1:33] backlinks from eight referring domains [1:36] so this is a win for me now let's look [1:39] at the Domain rating which also has a [1:41] huge impact on how well you rank so mine [1:45] is [1:45] 53 and what they have is [1:49] 56 I wouldn't consider the difference to [1:52] be too dramatic so nobody wins here but [1:56] the question is what makes this page [1:58] rank better than me even if they have [2:01] less backlinks and I think I know the [2:04] answer to this question it seems like [2:06] the backlinks they have are coming from [2:09] very powerful websites while the [2:11] backlinks I have are actually not that [2:15] powerful let's see if that is the case [2:18] and compare the links coming to my page [2:21] and the page on the simply cast website [2:24] I'm going to look at the referring [2:26] domains report situated under inbound [2:29] links menu so I go to the referring [2:33] domains report of both pages and see [2:36] what I have there by default this report [2:38] is sorted by the amount of do follow [2:40] links coming from the domain but what I [2:44] will do is sort this report by the [2:47] domain rating of the linking domain and [2:50] as you can see now these guys have a [2:52] link from YouTube with the domain rating [2:56] of 95 which is super solid they have a [2:59] link from redit with a domain rating of [3:03] 83 and they have a link from uh chrome. [3:08] google.com with a domain rating of 78 [3:12] now let's look at referring domains to [3:15] my post and what I have is SCP it with [3:19] domain rating of [3:22] 71 and that's pretty much the most [3:24] powerful domain that links to my article [3:27] when compared to what my competitor has [3:31] now let's see if I can easily replicate [3:34] these powerful links that they have and [3:37] probably outrank them at spot number [3:39] three where they sit at the moment next [3:43] to each referring domain there's a [3:45] wonderful button called backlinks and [3:48] when you click it you get a breakdown of [3:51] all pages uh on the referring domain [3:55] that link to your competitor so these [3:58] are a couple of YouTube videos that link [4:02] to the page of my competitor I think I [4:04] can easily shoot a few screencasts and [4:07] put a link to my article in the [4:10] description of these videos so this kind [4:12] of link is very easy to replicate now [4:16] the next one is a link from [4:18] Reddit as you can see they have only a [4:22] single link and since Reddit is a [4:25] platform where everyone can register an [4:28] account and post a few few links I don't [4:31] see any issues with replicating this one [4:34] too the next link looks like something [4:36] not really easy to replicate this is a [4:39] link coming from uh Google Chrome [4:43] Store and when I go to this link I see [4:47] that they have some kind of Twitter [4:49] marketing [4:50] application and here they are allowed to [4:54] insert their we website link which [4:57] actually goes to this page that ranks [5:00] above me so this link is not very easy [5:03] to replicate since you need to create [5:06] your own uh Google Chrome [5:08] application but here's a somewhat gray [5:12] head tip for you guys you can go and [5:14] hire a freelancer who will create a [5:17] simple uh Google Chrome application [5:20] related to your keyword and you will be [5:23] able to publish it at Google Chrome web [5:27] store and get a link to your article and [5:31] actually I decided to take my SEO [5:33] tutorial a bit further and found an [5:36] example of such simple application once [5:39] you add it to your browser you'll see [5:42] that this application adds a nice little [5:46] icon to your list of chrome applications [5:50] which is nothing but a [5:52] shortcut to a website so as you can see [5:56] this is a very easy application to [5:58] create and and as a result you'll get a [6:01] link from basically [6:04] google.com domain So eventually uh this [6:09] guy who ranks above me has a few links [6:12] from pretty solid domains but as you can [6:16] see I can easily replicate almost any of [6:20] them if I want to so that's it for [6:22] today's episode this is how you find the [6:25] most powerful backlinks of your [6:28] competitors and at them I hope you [6:31] really enjoyed this episode of [6:33] oversimplified SEO and I'm waiting for [6:36] your comments and questions in the [6:38] comment section below bye [6:43] [Music]
