[0:42] whole team came so we made it a bit of a
[0:44] you know a team get out of the office
[0:45] we've all got different experiences
[0:47] different areas some people PPC some
[0:49] people technical but it's just a really
[0:51] good opportunity to get away from the
[0:52] office and yeah just see what's going on
[0:55] out in the world so yes very very useful

[1:00] has been your favorite thing about this
[1:02] conference so far so far the connections
[1:04] between the people had a cool training

[1:16] conferences and how it's one of the best
[1:17] things do you have any tips for
[1:19] introverts so people who have a hard

[1:27] great question uh I would honestly say
[1:29] go to one of the kiosks usually the
[1:31] people working at the kiosk will make
[1:32] the Icebreaker for you and maybe that'll
[1:34] kind of get your Social wheel turning
[1:36] yeah for sure but outside of that I mean
[1:38] you just got to put yourself out there
[1:39] yeah yeah I think that's I would say

[2:44] as far as like introductory stuff
[2:47] um learn about all of the different
[2:49] tools first and foremost right like
[2:51] there are so many tools that will offer
[2:52] you some type of insightful data in the
[2:56] SEO world if you have just kind of a
[2:58] rule book of your top 10 tools that you
[3:01] can lean on and communities within those
[3:03] tools right ahrefs is a great example
[3:06] um your guys's team is always learning
[3:08] how to innovate Patrick and the team is
[3:10] always kind of learning on what's new
[3:11] what's the most valuable data set that
[3:13] can integrate into what we do every day
[3:15] that's a great starting point for anyone
[3:17] new to the world awesome and so how do
[3:19] you answer when when somebody says hey
[3:21] what do you do oh man do they ask you to
[3:24] fix their computer yeah most I think my
[3:27] mom still thinks I work for Google to
[3:28] this day she's like you were Okay Google
[3:30] right that's what you do and I'm like
[3:32] well it's a little different appreciate
[3:34] it brother thank you cheers
[3:36] so if you had to give anybody any
[3:38] pointers on having a great experience
[3:41] for their first time at an SEO
[3:42] conference what would you tell them have
[3:44] an open mind and uh make sure you choose
[3:48] something if you don't know about thank

[3:58] from the talks or from like one-on-one
[4:00] conversations that you have with people

[4:10] think that SEO conferences are worth
[4:11] attending yeah definitely
[4:13] so what do you like about them it's
[4:15] it's have like such a wide variety of
[4:18] things that you can like learn more
[4:19] about that maybe aren't your particular
[4:22] Niche or yeah just like having a lot of
[4:25] variety that you can actually choose
[4:26] what you want to go and learn about the
[4:28] conference is a place where you go and
[4:29] meet people whom you respect and whom
[4:32] you follow so this is certainly everyone
[4:34] should think of going to a conferences
[4:35] like this not just for meeting people
[4:37] but also to learn from the experts in
[4:39] real time if you had to choose between
[4:41] just going to the talks or the
[4:42] networking which one would you say is
[4:44] more valuable for you I'm actually here
[4:46] to learn of course from experts like you
[4:48] and also if I have a very specific
[4:50] questions for them I would like to meet
[4:52] them in person in a networking event and
[4:55] just ask them a few things that could
[4:56] help me you know get more clarity so
[4:58] yeah I think it's it's great because it
[5:00] can serve loads of different purposes
[5:01] for people so there's people who are
[5:03] going to either want to go to talks to
[5:05] learn and prove their knowledge then
[5:06] there's also people who want to connect
[5:08] with the community then you've got some
[5:10] people who just want to network help
[5:11] build relationships and nurture them and
[5:13] all that stuff you can do at conferences
[5:15] especially ones that are offline where
[5:17] you can really see people face to face
[5:18] have conversations like we're having and
[5:21] that's the sort of stuff that I think
[5:22] people really value in the stuff you can
[5:24] do I think it's a really good way of
[5:27] both getting inspiration and also
[5:30] learning completely in new things and
[5:32] then it's also of course about meeting
[5:33] new people asking interesting questions
[5:36] and getting asked some interesting
[5:38] questions as well building new contacts
[5:40] for the future so yeah absolutely I mean
[5:43] there's an aspect of how how often so I
[5:46] think going towards once every while is
[5:49] is good so getting new ideas and
[5:53] inputs on things I'm working on and new
[5:56] ways to see things is the most useful a
[6:00] lot of seos that I know are very
[6:01] introverted and so I'm wondering if you
[6:03] have any tips for introverts to network
[6:06] at conferences if you've got something
[6:08] that interests you that's a good point
[6:10] to kick kick off conversation isn't it
[6:12] you both works on something you've got a
[6:14] bit of a connection and you have got
[6:16] that kind of dating type situation yeah
[6:18] yeah oh we both do that yeah yeah so
[6:21] it's a very good opportunity to make
[6:22] even if you're not the most extroverted
[6:24] people do a bit of work before you get
[6:26] here so if you jump onto Twitter or
[6:29] something and put a shout out like
[6:30] anyone like to meet up when we're at
[6:32] hashtag writing SEO uh you'll probably
[6:35] have a few people that reply and you can
[6:37] arrange in advance like a meet-up for
[6:40] when you get there that's actually my
[6:41] first ever conference that's exactly
[6:42] what I did I met one girl and we hung
[6:44] out throughout the conference from
[6:46] interacting before on Twitter a second
[6:48] thing is like you said there are a lot
[6:49] of introverts
[6:50] um but if you are approached like you'll
[6:54] be happy like people will be happy to
[6:55] talk if you just take that first step
[6:57] and say hello I think most people here
[7:00] introver or not are interested in
[7:02] getting to talk about topics that that
[7:05] interest them I don't know about you but
[7:06] when I talk to to my girlfriend about
[7:09] SEO she tends to lose her Focus after a
[7:13] little while but here you have a bunch
[7:15] of people that are interested to talk
[7:16] about this minute after minute hour
[7:19] after hours I would just say that I'm
[7:21] also an intermittent guy so you know
[7:23] just take the first step you please go
[7:25] to the events don't stay back I guess
[7:28] you can find a companion who can come
[7:30] with you so that it makes it bit easier
[7:31] for you but please go to this events try
[7:34] to make the first effort meet and talk
[7:36] to someone and eventually you'll get
[7:38] past to that absolutely I think social
[7:40] media is one of the greatest things you
[7:42] can do because you can in advance sort
[7:44] of plan out your time you can ask people
[7:45] who are going you can reach out to
[7:46] people directly and I think the SEO
[7:48] community on the whole is very welcoming
[7:51] it's very you know a lot of people have
[7:53] their DMS open you can send people
[7:54] emails reach out on LinkedIn Say Hey I
[7:56] love what you do let's meet up at the
[7:58] conference and all the people who I've
[7:59] spoken to I've been able to make friends
[8:01] meet up with people and it has felt like
[8:03] a very welcoming and nice and warm
[8:05] experience so a lot of seos are
[8:07] introverted do you have any tips for
[8:08] them when they go to an SEO conference
[8:10] and how they can I guess get the value
[8:11] out of out of the one-to-one
[8:13] conversations that they'll have there uh
[8:15] if you ask me I ask you I think you
[8:18] should just go and talk to people
[8:19] because people are generally friendlier
[8:22] than you might think or then their
[8:24] online personas May seem and so people
[8:26] are generally willing to answer
[8:29] questions talk generally humble and also
[8:31] willing to learn and so I think I think
[8:34] these are a it's a safe place for people
[8:35] to come and ask questions and not have
[8:37] to worry about I guess looking
[8:39] unintelligent or anything like that
