析：How I read the Economist? (1)

原题：我是如何阅读《经济学人》的？

本已翻译这篇文章小段，但想起作者对此明白说明他不支持翻译而提倡赏析，因此我只是选取片段，在我的视觉里，去发现英文之妙。

1.veteran

这个词我是查了才知道

原句是 a veteran reader of The Economist

借用受珍视的运动员这个比喻来表达自己的英语水平和练习时长，着实霸气。

我翻译时，想了半天，第一反应是“老油条”这个词，但是含贬义，后有换了个词“国宝级读者”，明显有点别扭。

看这就是翻译的尴尬。

记得一位翻译大家曾说过：

翻译好比搭桥，在两种语言之间跳跃，跨过云雾的未知，抓住核心。

这一点，相当难。

2. the de facto bible

拉丁文，有in fact之意，但更侧重于 ：“并不被官方所允许的”，暗指《经济学人》在国内被墙，这种政治上的问题，了解不多，也没法评论。

但身为国人，总要有一方观点，看近来空间里同龄人——大学二年级学生多处转载时事文章，而我听师言，看文章，读外刊，经学术，还是得不出个所以然来。

用昨日句型造的那句话陈述吧：

A new trend/debate called whether the government should shut off those tricky issues related to some matters of homosexuality, which, in fact, is about HUMAN RIGHT, has the potential to change the regulations of civilized country too, by college students appealing for the real normal society，compared with the May Fourth Movement organized by the middle and below ranls and classes including student, the masses, citizens and workers and business men.

3. with regard to

with / in regard to = referring to; concerning:

学短语，不能只看其意思，要在句子中运用，最好不是例句中的，而是你无意间读到的，因为这能调动你阅读的消极词汇。

I prefer to write in English because two other articles written in English with regard to The Economist seem well received.

明显中间有个连词because， 跟的从句是two other articles seem well received.

把with regard to 换成 concerning：

I prefer to write in English because two other articles written in English concerning The Economist seem well received.
